Rural settlements of Jajarkot and Rukum in darkness
Jajarkot, Feb 17: Locals of Bhagawati-9 in Jajarkot district and Gotamkot-9 in Rukum district have been compelled to live in darkness for the past four months due to obstruction of Bherikhola Micro-Hydropower Project located at Bhagawati-9.
Some 150 households of Bhagawati-9 and Gotamkot-9 have been living under darkness from October 2016 after a generator of the project went dysfunctional.
The Astha Nepal constructed the 15-kilowatt project at a cost of Rs 2.2 million in 2071 BS.
Chairman of Bherikhola Micro-Hydropower Project Construction Users Committee, Harka Bahadur Bohara said that they were unable to resume the power service as there was no budget to carry out repair and maintenance of the generator.
